First day of school

First day of school. Yeah, I'm not enthused. Not fond of the communist/socialist elementary school. Uh huh. Not at all.

Lost and found

When something is missing we tell Brett to go find it. He takes great pride in finding things that are missing! Yesterday he found our favorite pair of tweezers, a sticky note with a fax # I needed, and kyles shoes! He is the cutest boy alive (along with my other two boys!)

Burp juice

Brett was talking about burp juice and I said to him, what's burp juice?? So he brings me a coke. Haha (and no he's not allowed to drink coke but I thought that was clever).

Jaws!

It is Kyle's second time making this kind of thing. The first was a santa claus suit.
He said he used hot glue gun to put this shark together. It's awesome!

Common Core

Our SCHOOL SYSTEM IS FAILING in many ways. Two out of my three kids struggle to keep up with the new testing standards, yet the program itself is NOT academically rigorous enough. Both the teachers AND students are in an imposition over the new federal testing.

Here's some things I keep thinking about:
1. I would like kids to read better books than they are, including daily scripture study.

2. Our community lost control on the federal level and ultimately the families are the losers!

3. The program isn't rigorous enough in the right ways. They aren't learning the rationales and concepts, just regurgitate information so they can pass common core tests.

4. Math- I want them to "learn logic where it belongs." -Gary North

5. I would like the kids to have courses in western civilization, U.S. Constitution and economics in its full, nothing taken out or missing, since they will be the ones required to bring this country back.

2nd session of General conference is starting so that's all for now.

Cub scouts

Braden is now a webelo and Kyle is still a Bear.  Here are some pictures of cake auction they had to raise money for the day camp coming up.

A cake Braden made for his best friend, Boston.

Brett's trademark arm around neck

Caught Brett wrapping his arm around daddy's neck tightly. It's always been a big deal to us when does that to either one of us. He is so special!

Aleah 1st piano recital

Aleah started piano lessons last sept and the recital was in early Dec. 13' so her instructor decided it was best for her to wait until next recital. It was good for her to see what piano recitals are like.

Braden on leadership council

Braden was asked to be on the leadership council and help head a huge parent/student assembly. He's loves doing anything administrative and he's good at it! He's in the plad shirt.

New haircuts

Brett use to bawl but now he loves to get his hair cut.
