Church starts at 8am this year and we love this time slot, its our favorite. The Spirit was really strong at fast and testimony meeting today. I love the ward (las colinas)and our bishop is wonderful. Bishop Davis is a tender-hearted, great man! Also sub'd for kyles class today and learned things I never knew about what Joseph smith went thru to keep the plates protected from mobsters. (I must have missed that week in primary.) It's sad that people couldn't believe that Joseph saw an angel, but they did believe he had golden plates? and were constantly trying to steal them from Joseph. He had to hide the plates in many places to keep them safe. I didn't know all this until yesterday but one time Joseph hid the plates inside the bark of a tree. On his way back home he rode through the woods instead of the road just to be safe, and someone hit him from behind with a gun. Joseph knocked the man down and the man ran away. Mobs hunted relentlessly for the plates- in his house, tore up his workshop, broke in at night scaring everyone. Can you imagine how paranoid Emma must have become of mobsters? Finally the persecution was so great they decided to move to Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph and Emma went through unbelievable trials! So did Brigham Young and other pioneers. One of our favorite songs to listen to and sing as a family is, "Praise to the Man." After church we watched the 49ers lose to the ravens! Ps I wrote this yesterday and saved as draft and posted today.
