Kyle's baptism

Kyle is such a special boy. We love him and are so happy to see him take this step and be baptized. He is now officially a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Aunt Lisa gave an excellent talk on Baptism and his brother Braden gave a great talk on the Holy Ghost. It was precious hearing his little voice and seeing him say inspiring things to his brother!

Megan has this plaque posted on her wall at her house and I loved it so much I used it as my theme when I bore my testimony.
I explained to Kyle that it is important to develop and magnify our talents...but making wise decisions (big or small) is even more important. If he is an all star wrestler, sings well or plays a musical instrument that is neat and important part of him. But all those things amount to little happiness if he decides not to serve a mission, marries outside the temple or isn't worthy to hold the Priesthood. Being baptized is the first step and all these steps will ultimately secure eternal peace and happiness inside him.  I presented Kyle with his own set of scriptures with his name on it. He was so excited to finally have his very own scriptures!

Megan Griffiths and I sang the song "The Olive Tree" and it went well. Megan is a professional singer so it was thrilling to sing with her. Lisa always tells me the strait up truth and after the baptism she told me she was amazed at how well i did and how good we sounded. She had nothing bad to say which is a big deal to me. Ha, I must have sounded okay!

Shane did a great job with the baptism and confirmation.  I'm so grateful to be married to Shane.  Kyle looks up to Shane so much and it was special that his Dad baptized and confirmed him. We are so grateful for the Priesthood in our home! At the end the Bishop invited Shane to bear his testimony. It was a powerful testimony...The Relief Society room was packed and we felt a lot of support. Afterwards we had an assortment of desserts and juices. We won't forget this special day.

After the baptism we went to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, My Brothers Place, then to the mall and then home to watch the kids do skits. skits were Nephi and the brass plates, journey to the promise land and Abinadai and King Noah. We recorded all the skits!

Great recap of a special day. I question the "first public song" though. Remember putting numbers together with Carrie and Lisa and putting on shows for our parents? :). (I guess those *were* semi-private performances.)

He had everything and anything any child would want for their baptism day! The memories of this day and all the events throughout will not be forgotten. There is so much to say WOW about, I'll just say Wow to it all... Love the scriptures kyle received and now he can read and learn with the family and for the family as well. Excellent day and really an amazing few days with his bday party as well. Loved his suit and you, lisa and Shane looked wonderful as well.

YAY Kyle, it's so awesome to see him make the right decisions, and he has great parents, and their example that help him make it easy to always to what is right. I'm sure as a parent (even though I am not one quite yet) it is an amazing feeling to see your children choosing the right.
